WHAT TO LOOK FOR – WEEK 8
DOMINANT DEFENSE: Entering Week 8, the undefeated NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (7-0) lead the league in both points for per game (31.9) and points against per game (6.9).
Against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday (4:25 PM ET, CBS), the Patriots can become the first team to average more than 30 points per game and allow fewer than 10 points per game through eight games of a season since the 1962 GREEN BAY PACKERS.
Additionally, New England’s point differential (+175) is the second-highest at this point of a season in NFL history, trailing only the 1920 Buffalo All-Americans (+218). With a win on Sunday, New England can continue its historic point differential pace and jump into the top five in NFL history through their first eight games.
The SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS enter Week 8 as the lone undefeated team (6-0) in the NFC. San Francisco’s defense has allowed 223.5 total net yards per game – more than 100 fewer yards per game than any other team in the NFC (Dallas, 324.9) – and has limited their opponents to fewer than 200 total net yards of offense in each of the past three games.
With fewer than 200 total net yards allowed on Sunday against Carolina (4:05 PM ET, FOX), San Francisco would become the sixth team to allow fewer than 200 total net yards of offense in at least four consecutive games since 1970. Three of the previous five teams to do so went on to win the Super Bowl.
The teams with the most consecutive games limiting opponents to 200 or fewer total net yards of offense since 1970:

KNOCKING ON THE 150 CLUB: The NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS enter Week 7 as the lone undefeated team (6-0) in the AFC and lead the NFL in both points per game (31.7) and points allowed per game (8.0). Through six games, New England’s point differential (+142) is the third-highest at this point of a season in the Super Bowl era, trailing only the 1999 St. Louis Rams (+154) and the 1968 Dallas Cowboys (+149).

Thursday Oct 17, 2019
Of all the places I could have been on Tuesday October 17, 1989, I just happened to be at Candlestick Park in San Francisco California for Game 3 of the 1989 World Series.
Unfortunately I didn't get to experience my first World Series, thanks to a 6.9 earthquake that rocked the entire Bay Area including Candlestick Park.
For the first time ever , I have decided to share my entire experience of that infamous moment in my life, here on the Sports Kings Podcast.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR – WEEK 6
THE PATRIOT WAY: The NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS enter Week 6 as the AFC’s only unbeaten team (5-0) and with the top defense in the NFL, ranking first in fewest points allowed per game (6.8) and fewest yards allowed per game (238.4). Their 34 total points allowed through five games are the fewest points allowed through a team’s first five games since the 2005 INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (29 points) and the fifth-fewest since 1970.
This Sunday, Kansas City quarterback PATRICK MAHOMES and Houston quarterback DESHAUN WATSON face each other for the first time in their careers, when the Chiefs welcome the Texans to Arrowhead Stadium (1:00 PM ET, CBS). Entering Week 6, Mahomes leads the NFL in passing yards (1,831), while Watson ranks second in the league in passer rating (115.9). The pair are tied for second in the league in touchdown passes with 11.
Mahomes, who has 7,212 passing yards in 22 career games, and Watson, who has 7,228 passing yards in 28 career games, can each reach 7,500 career passing yards on Sunday. Should the pair each reach the milestone, they would become the fastest and tied for the third-fastest quarterbacks in NFL history to reach 7,500 career passing yards.
Seattle quarterback RUSSELL WILSON passed for 268 yards and four touchdowns with a 151.8 passer rating in the Seahawks’ Week 5 win. Wilson, who currently leads the NFL with a 126.3 passer rating in 2019, has a passer rating of 100 or higher in each of Seattle’s first five games of the season.
With a passer rating of 100 or higher on Sunday at Cleveland (1:00 PM ET, FOX), Wilson would become the fourth player in NFL history with a passer rating of 100 or higher in each of his first six games of a season.

Sports Kings NFL Weekly Countdown Podcast

The NFC South is a great division led by 3 very experienced Super Bowl QB's in Drew Brees, Cam Newton and Matt Ryan. After nearly winning the NFC last year, the New Orleans Saints are still pissed at the outcome of that NFC Championship game against the Rams. On September 15, 2019. the Saints have a chance to get even as they travel out west for a rematch. The Atlanta Falcons made some significant changes in their coaching staff, Dirk Koetter is back with the team as Offensive Coordinator and this should be great for Matt Ryan and the offense. The Carolina Panthers got off to a 6-2 start and then finished the season by going 1-7. Cam Newton has made some adjustments, let's see if they work and if the Panthers can return to greatness.
The poor folks in Tampa have been looking for something to cheer about, especially the last 2 seasons. 5-11 last year, and the year before that. Former NFL Coach of the Year Bruce Arians is now in charge and has been able to resurrect under performing franchises. He did it in Indy and Arizona. Will he be able to turn Tampa into a .500 or better team this season?

The Sports Kings discuss the start of NFL camps around the league this week and what some of the early expectations will be going into the preseason. Some of the topics on this podcast includes whether or not Daniel Jones will replace Eli Manning at some point during the 2019 NFL season as the New York Giants starting QB. Since the Houston Texans are without a GM, will head coach Bill O'Brien be the fall-guy if Houston doesn't make the playoffs this year or win the AFC South? We also discuss the Dallas Cowboys and how things will play out with their contract concerns involving Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot.

NBA Free Agency continues here in mid July as big name players are still on the move. The latest move involved Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Russell Westbrook and Houston Rocket's guard Chris Paul. It had been highly rumored the Rockets were pursuing Westbrook in a trade and it finally happened. Chris Paul is out and Westbrook reunites with his Southern California and former OKC teammate James Harden.
MeanGene and David Ramon will also take a look at what teams improved overall during free agency and the expectations moving forward. Who is the best team in the East and West? We will attempt to answer these and many other NBA questions on the Sports Kings NBA Podcast on iHeartRadio.
