NFL Week 9 Predictions and Analysis
Guest Co-host CBS Sports.com Sr. Writer Bryan DeArdo, Bryan and I have some big upsets planned for Week 9 of the NFL season.
The PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (8-0) are the last remaining undefeated team in the league they start off Week 9 with a win (29-17) over Houston on Thursday Night Football on Prime Video), they are off to their best start to a season in franchise history.
The two most recent Super Bowl Champions will go head-to-head on Sunday (4:25 PM ET, CBS) when the LOS ANGELES RAMS (3-4) visit the TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (3-4).
The BUFFALO BILLS (6-1) enter Week 9 on a four-game winning streak and own the league’s top offense (430.6 yards per game). They also rank third in total defense (298.1 yards allowed per game).
Buffalo visits the New York Jets on Sunday (1:00 PM ET, CBS) and has a chance to become the third team ever to average at least 425 yards of offense per game and allow fewer than 300 yards per game on defense through its first eight games of a season, joining the 2010 San Diego Chargers and 2007 New England Patriots.

The PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (6-0) return to action this week following their Week 7 bye. They are the last remaining undefeated team in the league and are looking to match their best start to a season in franchise history (7-0 in 2004). Cincinnati enters Week 8 having won four of their past five games and have scored at least 30 points in each of their past two games. Quarterback JOE BURROW ranks second in the league with 2,097 passing yards and third with 15 touchdown passes, while wide receiver JA’MARR CHASE ranks sixth with 605 receiving yards and tied for second with six touchdown receptions. Tennessee running back DERRICK HENRY enters Week 8 as one of three players in the league with at least 500 rushing yards (536) and five rushing touchdowns (five) this season. He has totaled over 100 rushing yards in each of his past three games and has a rushing touchdown in four of his past five.

KANSAS CITY (4-2) has an intriguing date with SAN FRANCISCO (3-3) on Sunday (4:25 PM ET, FOX). Since they met in Super Bowl LIV to end the 2019 season, the Chiefs lead the NFL in total yards per game (402.4) while the 49ers lead the NFL in fewest yards allowed (303.5). When the NEW YORK GIANTS (5-1) visit the JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (2-4) on Sunday (1:00 PM ET, FOX), DANIEL JONES and TREVOR LAWRENCE will square off for the first time since Nov. 17, 2018, when Clemson defeated Duke during the Tigers' 15-0 College Football Playoff championship season. Jacksonville running back TRAVIS ETIENNE ran for two touchdowns in that game for Clemson.

The KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (4-1) are set to host the BUFFALO BILLS (4-1) in a rematch of last season’s memorable Divisional playoff meeting. The teams enter Sunday’s matchup (4:25 PM ET, CBS) as the top-two scoring offenses in the league, with Kansas City averaging 31.8 points per game and Buffalo averaging 30.4. The Bills also enter Week 6 tied for the top-scoring defense in the league (12.2 points allowed per game).
The PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (5-0) are the NFL’s last remaining undefeated team and have finished with a positive turnover differential in each of their five wins this season.
On Sunday Night Football (8:20 PM ET, NBC) against Dallas, the Eagles can become the fourth team in the Super Bowl era to begin a season with a 6-0 record and have a positive turnover differential in each victory.
New York Jets rookie running back BREECE HALL, the No. 36 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, leads all rookies with 488 scrimmage yards (275 rushing, 213 receiving) this season. Last week, he set a Jets rookie record with 197 scrimmage yards (100 receiving, 97 rushing) and a rushing touchdown in the team’s win.

Since taking over as Kansas City’s full-time starter in 2018, quarterback PATRICK MAHOMES leads the NFL with 32 games with at least 300 passing yards. Since entering the league in 2020, Los Angeles Chargers quarterback JUSTIN HERBERT leads the NFL with 19 games with at least 300 passing yards.
